Adult Contemporary Romance

Run to You is a sweet contemporary romance novel by Rachel Lacey. I haven't read a straight romance novel for awhile so this was a nice change of pace for me.

Gabby moved to Haven, NC to get some distance from her parents and her abusive ex-boyfriend. She rented a small house and tried to keep to herself. It was working out really well for her until she wandered onto Ethan Hunter's property and got stung by a horde of yellow-jackets right in front of him. Ethan took her to the doctor to make sure she was alright.

Ethan's grandmother, Dixie, was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain aneurysm. The doctors said it could burst at any time and have given her only a couple months to live. She is thrilled when she thinks that Ethan and Gabby have started a relationship together. Unfortunately, she got the wrong idea when she saw them together, but Ethan wants Dixie to die thinking that her final wishes have been fulfilled. He and Gabby decide to keep up the charade for Dixie.

The premise of the book is fun and I enjoyed the characters. I especially liked Dixie. She had an amazing attitude, especially knowing that her days were limited. She was so loving and caring with Ethan, even though he was a punk at times. I had a lot of respect for her and what she learned from the trials in her life.

Gabby's character also overcame a lot of personal challenges in this book. I appreciated the effort she put in to facing her fears and not backing down from her trials. It seemed like she was willing to do what was necessary to get what she needed out of her experience in Haven.

Ethan needed to do a lot of growing up. He only had one hang-up and it was drawn out through the entire book. Everyone close to him seemed to know what his problem was, except Gabby. That was very frustrating for me. However, he did plan some great dates for he and Gabby! Those were very impressive.

All in all, it was an enjoyable book and quick to read. Highly recommended if you're a fan of romance!

ONE LITTLE LIE. A WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE.

Moments after meeting the most gorgeous guy ever, Gabby Winters promptly gets stung by a zillion yellowjackets and falls-not gracefully-into a stream. Yup, Ethan Hunter is trouble with a capital "hot," and Gabby definitely needs to keep her distance. Except in the small town of Haven, there's nowhere to hide from Ethan's sexy, infectious grin . . . and all the residents are conspiring against her.

At the center of the town's matchmaking is Ethan's grandmother, who's convinced their relationship is a done deal. Rather than break her heart, Gabby and Ethan find themselves cornered into pretending to be falling in love. The problem: there's serious sizzling attraction between them. And if this charade continues, they won't fool just the entire town - they might fool themselves too . . .
